Coronavirus / COVID-19: Service Updates

At Gendan we are a small team, so should any of our staff contract the virus, it may have an unavoidable impact on our operation, and therefore upon your order.
As a precaution, some of our team members are now working from home. This means there are fewer people in the office to answer the phone, so please bear with us if we take a little longer than usual to answer.
As a mail-order business we are still open, shipping orders as rapidly as possible. We plan to continue doing so as long as postal services are available, and it doesn't pose an unacceptable risk for our staff or customers.

Mail order parcels themselves are considered to be relatively safe, as viruses cannot survive on surfaces for long.
We would however recommend thorough handwashing after unpacking your order.

Service Current status
Online orders Operating as normal
Telephone orders Operating mainly as normal:
With some staff working from home we have fewer people than usual answering the phones, so it may take a little longer to answer your call.
If possible please email your queries.
Customer collections Regrettably we are not accepting drop-in customers or order collections from our warehouse at present, to limit the possibility of exposure to our staff.
UK deliveries - Royal Mail Operating mainly as normal, but with delays:
Royal Mail delivery services are still operating, however they are working with staff absence rates at twice the normal level for this time of year. Some posted items will therefore be unavoidably delayed.
  • The Special Delivery service is now expected to be delivered by 9pm instead of the usual 1pm. (The usual "highlands & islands" exemptions still apply).
  • First Class / Tracked 24 services in some areas are delayed by several days.
  • Second Class / Tracked 48 services may take a week or more to arrive.
  • Where signatures are required, the delivery driver will sign on your behalf, to avoid the contamination risk from customers handling the driver's PDA.
  • If you miss your delivery, from Monday April 6th the retention time (before parcels are returned to sender) has been increased to 30 calendar days.

UK deliveries - DPD Operating as normal
The delivery driver will sign on your behalf, to avoid the contamination risk from customers handling the driver's PDA.
There are some delays in DPD's network but they currently appear to be minimal.

International deliveries Some delays, restrictions and special terms:
Our international shipping options are currently quite limited, so we cannot economically ship to most locations.
  • Deliveries to countries with virus restrictions may be delayed.
    Where more severe restrictions are in place, delivery may only be attempted once, then returned to sender if there is no-one to receive the parcel. In these cases should redelivery be requested there would be a charge (and significant delay) to re-ship the parcel.
  • Deliveries to some countries with closed borders are currently not possible. If in doubt, please email us and we will do our best to confirm whether we can ship to your location.
  • The reduction in capacity of international freight services means the costs of shipping have also increased.
